Golden Pu’er
Tuocha 沱茶 is pu-erh pressed into a small bowl shape, one nest to a pot. Pu-erh 普洱 is a tea from Yunnan, a province in China’s far southwest, named for the town of Pu’er there. These nests are pressed from golden buds, the youngest and most tender tips of the tea plant. It is a ripe pu-erh, shou 熟 in Chinese. The leaf is piled and fermented before it is pressed, which softens it. The cup is earthy, smooth and sweet, with caramel, dark cocoa and dried wood underneath. The body is thick, and the sweetness lingers.
